Denver Improv Festival at Voodoo Comedy Playhouse and various venues (Friday, Saturday and Sunday, $5 and up)
The seventh annual Denver Improv Festival has been in full swing since Wednesday night, but the show will go on all weekend. Catch Denver's own Governor Jack and national groups like L.A.'s Convoy and Chicago's Switch Committee at the Voodoo Comedy Playhouse, Bovine Metropolis and Impulse Theater; these pros will also be teaching improv techniques to seasoned and aspiring comics during the day.
"El Dia de Los Muertos" -- a Celebration of Life! at Chicano Humanities & Arts Council (Friday, free)
Join CHAC for a family-friendly Dia de los Muertos procession along Santa Fe Drive, led by Aztec dancers in honor of the holiday of lost loved ones. Then enjoy a celebration of traditional food and beverages, pinatas and face-painting back at the CHAC, where you can also see a display of artwork by local schoolchildren.
Fresh Jazz & Crisp Vinyl Series featuring the Purnell Steen Trio at Dikeou Collection (Friday, free)
Enjoy live music from the Purnell Steen Trio in this beautiful gallery tucked away in an unassuming building just off the 16th Street Mall. Along with live jazz, Ken Hamel, founder and editor of DenverArts.org, will offer a unique DJ set as he spins rare jazz records from the Dikeou Collection's deep vinyl archive.
Primos Hardcore & Wrestling Presents: Karnival at Werth Manor Event Center (Friday, $10 or $5 with canned food or clothing donation)
Denver's premier hardcore and wrestling company is at it again, bringing great entertainment to the ring with Karnival. In the spirit of Halloween, Primo's best players will be dressing up as heroes, villains and champion wrestlers of the past. And you'll be a champ if you bring non-perishable food items or clothing for donation -- and receive $5 off the ticket price.
Reeewind & Roll: Rolling Dead Party at EXDO Events Center (Friday, $10)
Zombie freaks, unite! This party on wheels invites you to dress in your goriest glory for a night of roller skating and a costume contest. Join DJ Pop Alot in The Hall, DJ Tanastadi and DJ Corona for some sweet retro hip-hop jams and check out live painting by graffiti artist Hector Palacios inside the spacious EXDO Events Center.
