Beaver Creek opened for the 2013-2014 season on Wednesday, just in time for this weekend's World Cup racing
Headed for the hills to make the most of the four day weekend? Yeah, us too. Beaver Creek, Steamboat, and Crested Butte all opened for the season today; Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, and Telluride open tomorrow, and Purgatory and Howelsen Hill open this weekend. Read on for some tips on where to point your ski tips.

Yard sale! Been there, done that with the whole getting trampled at Black Friday sales thing? Try stepping into the white room today at Copper Mountain instead, for the annual Yam Jam rail competition from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (registration is $15) on Lower Bouncer. If you're just there for the yard sales, there will be free spectator viewing from the Center Village base area. Woodward at Copper will also be hosting a special Santa's Workship: Create-A-Skate event on Friday at the Woodward Cage, where kids of all ages can make their own custom skateboard decks ($40).

Meet the pros! Woodward at Copper is also hosting it's official Grand Re-Opening party on Saturday with Woodward Remix, featuring autograph sessions and pro BMX demos from X Games stars Zack Warden, Morgan Wade, and Gary Young and pro skateboarders Curren Caples, Louie Lopez, and Jono Schwan. Woodward is offering free Barn sessions on Sunday, and international snowboarding and freeskiing Olympic contenders will flocking to the mountain to train in the Main Vein Superpipe, which opened on Wednesday morning as the first 22-foot pipe of the season so so far in North America.

Happy ThanksJibbing! Snowmass wins for the best Thanksgiving contest name with its invite-only ThanksJibbing rail jam contest at the Snowmass Base Village, featuring Matt Walker, Alex Ferreira, Peter Olenick, Blake Axelson and Red Gerard, among others starting at 2 p.m. A DJ, activities for kids - including a bouncy castle, because why not? - and turkey bowling are among the coinciding festivities.

Beaver Creek hosts Women's World Cup racing events this weekend, free and open to the public

Pass the Cup! The Nature Valley Women's World Cup will bring the Olympic contenders to Beaver Creek this weekend, November 29-December 1, in a preview of the course for the 2015 World Alpine Ski Championships. The event features Downhill, Super G, and Giant Slalom racing. The men race next week, December 6-8, and all races and related festivities are free for spectators and open to the public.

On to the next one! Thanksgiving? Check. Next up? Christmas tree lighting ceremonies and gearing up for the rest of the winter holidays. Keystone's Welcome Winter family carnival is on Saturday at Warren Station in the River Run Village from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., with family-friendly activities and music by the Coral Creek String Band.

Free the kids! Arapahoe Basin kicks off its Kids Ski Free Days for kids 14 and under on Sunday, running December 1-20, and by free they mean free: no restrictions, no strings attached, no purchase necessary, free.
