The anonymously subsidized YES MA'AM PROJECT announced its first recipient today: Up-and-coming local multimedia installationist and visual documentarian Adam Milner, whose experiments in subjective experience and social media exemplify what it means to be an artist in the 21st century.

Milner was selected from a pool of nominees (also chosen by an anonymous committee) by juror Max Weintraub, an assistant visiting professor at Hunter
College in New York. YES MA'AM aims to help artists with micro-grants awarded by national jurors; Milner will receive $1,500, and runner-up Scot Johnson, who will be awarded with an opportunity for a small solo show at the Showpen Gallery.

"I was very impressed with the breadth of media and the varied approaches to art making demonstrated by all of the Colorado-based artists submitted for consideration," Wientraub says. "To be exposed to such a range of fine artistic production was an honor and a pleasure.

"I have selected Adam Milner as the recipient of this year's award for his compelling explorations of human psychology and the body. Integrating life and art in original and at times sexually charged ways, Milner produces work that is intimate and confessional while also keenly attuned to the politics and economies of desire that constitute both intersubjective experience and the making and viewing of art."

Congrats to Milner, and let's look forward to seeing where this thing goes next!
