The Denver Cruiser Ride 2014 hits the road tonight with a block party on wheels

Denver Cruiser Ride big wheel Brad Evans continues to find ways to keep the weekly, costumed bike crawl on a roll. So when the first ride of 2014 -- with a "Reds and Robes" theme -- starts tonight at five bar locations, the shared destination will be a bona fide block party at the locus of 14th and Champa streets, given the green light by the partnering Denver Theatre District.

"We've done our best to pave the way for a fun summer on bikes, and now I'm going to be encouraging the riders who turn out to step up and do the right thing," Evans notes. "We are helping make Denver an internationally known bike city, and we look forward to your involvement as we get more people to ride bikes in our urban core.

"Our first ride includes a fully permitted and licensed road closure and beer garden," he adds. "And can you say Jumbotron? I'm not kidding: We have gotten permission to broadcast a live feed onto this giant screen at 14th and Champa -- the first ever bike party on a Jumbotron!" Riders will converge on 14th and Champa from 9 to 11 p.m., where the district will unveil MASSIVE, a collaboration with RedLine that's part of the OneWall Project!

Denver Bike Night starts with simultaneous meetups around 7 p.m. at five starting locations: The Ginn Mill, Skylark Lounge, Denver Wrangler, Hogshead Brewery and Thirty Fourteen. See below for a list of weekly themes; the rides continue through September 24.

My Voice Nation Help

I ride everyday not just once a week and I hate riding on Wednesday. All week long I deal with cars trying to kill me and that's not so bad but when the middle of the week hits I got to deal with all you fucking Cruisers who don't know how to ride you jam up the streets and your costumes look stupid. Just go back to what ever hole you people come form and leave the streets to the real bike riders.
