When your long day of geeking out at Denver Comic Con is done but you're not quite ready to call it a nerd night, there's a place you can go -- Rock Comic Con. After all, nerds like to rock as much as anybody, and these days the geek music scene is going stronger than ever.

"It's past just fandom and fan bands," says Charlie LaGreca, one of Rock Comic Con's founders. "It's really amazing, talented musicians, bands, DJs and rappers that are passionate about this stuff and having a blast with it, translating it to new art and new avenues. People are wanting to have it be part of their lives. They relate to it. It speaks to them."

A mix of local and national geek bands will fill The Armoury Friday and Saturday night, offering local geeks a chance to dance and drink the night away in fellowship with like-minded folks. Friday features local favorites Total Ghost, the Game of Thrones-themed punk of Daenerys and the Targaryens and chiptune metal extremist Rainbowdragoneyes, while Saturday's lineup includes Magic Cyclops, the Dungeons & Dragons punk of 3D6, LaGreca's own band H2Awesome! and the nerdcore rap of Schaffer the Darklord.

"We're kind of a power-pop, pop-punk band," LaGreca says of H2Awesome!. "We're really [best] as a live band -- there's a lot of stuff that goes in line with our act. We really engage with our audience and go over the top. We have cosplayers as dancers.

"Schaffer the Darklord is the headliner," he continues. "He tore it up at SXSW. I heard he had an amazing turnout there and killed it, so when we heard about that we knew he would be great for the headliner this year."

Rounding out the evening, there will be comedy, live art and giveaways, including a limited edition snowboard from Breckenridge Brewery and Never Summer Boards that looks like Robert Baratheon's personal ride. Sure, it's summer now, but we all know that winter is coming.

Rock out geek style starting at 7 p.m. both Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14 at the Armoury. Tickets are $15 for a single night, or $25 for both nights. For tickets and more info, including a full schedule, visit the Rock Comic Con website.
