10 things to do for $10 in Denver this weekend (7 free!), July 25-27
As the weather heats up, people start to lose their minds -- and their money -- and this weekend is going to get particularly weird. Luckily, you can partake in everything from some crystal healing to seeing what's in the stars to running around butt-naked. It's too cheap not to.
If you want more, check out the Westword calendar, full of all the cities best events, and please tell us about other ways to get weird in this heat in the comments section.
Dream Meme Theme at TechHub (Friday, free)
It's hard to beat free beer. Add live interactive art to the mix, and you should be in for a great night. Artist Isaac Carpenter will paint as the party flows to a live DJ, and did we mention free beer?
Matt Barton:I think I Feel Something at Museum of Contemporary Art (Friday, 10¢)
The new exhibition at MCA involves art with a new age feel to it, so get ready for some crystal therapy to balance out your chakra. There will be plenty of booze, music and surprises to enjoy throughout the museum. Dig in the piggy bank and pull out a dime if you're not a MCA member.
Untitled #69 (Uncharted) at Denver Art Museum (Friday, $10)
Tom Wesselmann's paintings are the core of the DAM's latest exhibition Beyond Pop Art. Not only was he a painter, but a licking good country musician as well, so they're celebrating with a concert featuring a pal of the artists'. In addition to that will be artistic map tours of the museum, intellectual discussion, astronomy, theatrical performances and much much more.
Big Boy Weekend at Forney Museum of Transportation (Saturday-Sunday, $9)
Denver's transportation museum will feature more than sixty tables worth of model trains and old train blueprints. Giveaways and food will also be a part of the festivities. Admission to the museum is included in the cost, so take a tour of it for yourself.
Sample Saturdays at Gluten Free Things (Saturday, free-$10)
Gluten-free food is super popular these days, but it is not all created equally. Check out this little rendezvous of high-quality gluten-free food trucks. Free French toast for breakfast and hot dogs and burgers for lunch. Food will also be available for purchase.
