This is one of the busiest weekends of the summer by far. If you didn't make it on a camping trip, check out these staycation ideas. They're all practically free. Go to the beach, learn about new lifestyles or check out a ballgame. You're free to do any or all of them.

Cherry Creek Arts Festival at Cherry Creek North (Friday-Sunday, free)
This has been Denver's premier summer art festival for well over two decades. There's art galore and so much more.

Park Hill Fourth of July Parade at 23rd Avenue (Friday, free)
Every community has its July 4 parade, but check out a new one this summer. This parade spans 23rd Avenue from Dexter to Krameria streets, so grab your spot and cheer on your country.

Odessa Rose at Mile High Winery (Friday, free)
Come get your wine swerve on to the swinging sounds of Odessa Rose. The music is free but bring a couple bucks for some wine.

Boulder Summer Reggae Festival at Millennium Harvest House Boulder (Saturday, free)
Nothing says freedom like reggae music in a garden. Celebrate the day after the Fourth at this hotel in Boulder. Positive vibes, lawn games and face paint for the kids will keep everyone happy.


Samuel Adams Brew & View at City Park (Saturday, free)
That beer company from Boston is throwing a movie night featuring Wedding Crashers. It is a 21 and up event, so make sure to reserve your tickets for this free event that will also have games and live music. As always, bring some dinero for food and beer.

Vintage Baseball Game & Ice Cream Social at Wolff Run Park (Saturday, free)
Baseball is America's game, and these guys are taking it all the way back to 1870 to play a game of baseball the 1870s way. If the rules and uniforms aren't enough for you, there will also be suffragettes picketing for the right to vote.

VegFest at Jefferson County Fairgrounds (Saturday-Sunday, $7-$10)
Fourth of July weekend is the perfect storm for a hotdog hangover. If the BBQ took a tole on you, check out the alternative. Learn about living a cruelty-free lifestyle, and enjoy tasty samples.

Three Sisters Kardashian at Skylite Station (Sunday, free)
The hundred year old play Three Sisters, by the great Anton Chekhov followed three sisters in Russia, as their upper class lives were dwindling and they were faced with reality. It's pretty on point with the three most famous sisters of our modern times: The Kardashians. Check out this free preview of an update of a classic tale.



City Park Jazz at City Park (Sunday, free)
This weeks set features the soulful stylings of Boston/ New York/ Chicago based artist SuCh. As an artist on the rise, it would be pretty cool to say you got to see her for free in Denver before she was super famous.

RiNo Beach Club at EXDO (Sunday, free)
Finish off the holiday weekend at the beach. The only thing Denver lacks is a good beach, so try out the closest thing we can get to the tropics without leaving town. The $5 that gets you in pays off: Attend three Beach Clubs throughout the summer and get your fourth for free.
