Set in Chicago during the early 1960s, Last Night at the Blue Angel is the story of jazz singer and rising star Naomi Hill and her precocious ten-year-old daughter Sophia, told against the noisy backdrop of a turbulent time and place. The advance on this novel, which includes being named an Indie Next pick, is that it's a page-turner rich with history and personal drama. We're guessing this won't be the last we hear from Rotert.
