Gallery Sketches: Three Shows for the Weekend of August 22-24
Summer's nearly over, as kids go back to school and vacations wrap up. This weekend, you can wander through a last summer festival before the fall grind commences, see what's new on the contemporary scene or catch up with the co-ops. It's all good. Here are some suggestions:

Gildar Gallery brings back artist Ryan Everson, who's built sculptural wood-and-metal works of signage and photographed them in natural landscapes, setting iconic stands of text among trees on mountaintops or drifting slowly across a lake in a canoe. Think of the new show, Landlines, as a visual backwoods Hollywood, juxtaposing civilization and the pristine. Landlines runs through September 26.
