Aspen's Rio Grande Skatepark has been around for over a decade and now, thanks to a recent change of heart by city officials, it will get a very welcome upgrade by award-winning park designers Team Pain, run by none other than "Search for Animal Chin" mega-ramp designer Tim Payne. We spoke with Payne, who was relaxing in his office down in Florida, about the upcoming project, working in one of the most beautiful places in Colorado, and just what his team of skatepark designers plans on adding to the site.

The local skate rag turned video 'zine known as Fuck Off Zine will be unveiling Skateboarding Sucks tonight at Toeey's Off Colfax. The film, screening at 8 p.m. (all ages) and 10 p.m. (21+) for $5, is the third installment of the FOZine video series documenting the best and worst of the Colorado skate scene, and also marks the twentieth anniversary of the print 'zine.

"I had the bright idea to have the video premiere double as my bachelor's party the weekend of my wedding, so there's plenty to be stressed out about," says FOZine editor Rob Stamm. "Hopefully there won't be a riot at the premiere before I have to be in some wedding photos. Our parties tend to get kinda crazy."

This week's submission comes from local Meta Skateboards rider JJ Jensen, (whom you've also seen in the teaser for Meta's forthcoming video "The Holy Crail" on this blog), and with the video comes a sweet skate swag package from Meta. If can you guess where Jensen is throwing down this backside 5-0, the company will throw you a free shop deck. What's that you say? A free deck? Yup. A free Meta shop deck.

For the third installment of "Guess where I'm skateboarding..." we reached out to a local skate company that wanted to showcase a few locals shredding a fresh spot. Now, you might have to actually be "in the know" in order to get this spot (if you can't read, that is), but it's guaranteed to get your wheels turning once you get a chance to tear this place up on some urethane. It's full of ramps, rails, boxes, a newly renovated mini-ramp and even a few couches to chill on. If you can guess this week's spot, you'll get a sweet prize package from Boppo -- but that's only if can guess where we're bustin' these lines. Bonus points if you can name all the tricks.

Last week we debuted the newest addition to our blog that's focused on skateboarding. This week, we bring you a new clip with the same chance to win some sweet gear from a local company, Conkwear. We've scoured the spots of Colorado and will continue to bring you fresh tricks at some cool skateparks, skate spots and wherever we can find to grind, drop, or flip over and off of. This weeks spot is brought to you again by Conkwear, but that's only if you can guess where our friend Tyler is busting this big air.

Snowboarding season is getting into full swing up in the mountains, with resorts opening by the day (Steamboat and Eldora opened their 50th anniversary seasons this week, and Beaver Creek and Crested Butte are also now spinning chairs in time for Thanksgiving), but you wouldn't know it down here in Denver. Weather forecasters here are so bored they've been hitting the thesaurus to look up synonyms for "mild." Since urban snow jibs just aren't happening yet, here's a roundup of what's new from our local skateboarding crews to tide you over.
