This week's submission comes from local Meta Skateboards rider JJ Jensen, (whom you've also seen in the teaser for Meta's forthcoming video "The Holy Crail" on this blog), and with the video comes a sweet skate swag package from Meta. If can you guess where Jensen is throwing down this backside 5-0, the company will throw you a free shop deck. What's that you say? A free deck? Yup. A free Meta shop deck.

Guess where I'm skateboarding in this secret warehouse

For the third installment of "Guess where I'm skateboarding..." we reached out to a local skate company that wanted to showcase a few locals shredding a fresh spot. Now, you might have to actually be "in the know" in order to get this spot (if you can't read, that is), but it's guaranteed to get your wheels turning once you get a chance to tear this place up on some urethane. It's full of ramps, rails, boxes, a newly renovated mini-ramp and even a few couches to chill on. If you can guess this week's spot, you'll get a sweet prize package from Boppo -- but that's only if can guess where we're bustin' these lines. Bonus points if you can name all the tricks.

Tristan Minton on Saturday's Down to Skate film premiere

On Saturday, Denver-based filmmaker Tristan Minton is premiering his new skateboard film H-DTS Mile High Alumni: Down to Skate at the BOPPO Warehouse at 4120 East Brighton Boulevard, Unit B13 ($5 at the door, screenings at 7 and 10 p.m.) The film stars Julian Christianson -- a Westword Best of Denver 2012 winner -- and a local crew including Cody Schulze, Travis Emmite, Phil Hansen, Andrew Smith, Wyatt Milhollan and Spencer Semien. It's being presented in partnership with Minton's company Royal Stain Design, the 303 Boards CLFX shop team and other sponsors. We caught up with Minton for a quick chat about the film and what makes the local scene tick.

On November 25, Danny Cisneros set two (unofficial) world records for doing a handstand on his skateboard. He traveled .8 miles, nearly doubling the previous distance record, and was clocked going 35 miles per hour -- establishing a speed record that had not yet been set.

Snowboarding season is getting into full swing up in the mountains, with resorts opening by the day (Steamboat and Eldora opened their 50th anniversary seasons this week, and Beaver Creek and Crested Butte are also now spinning chairs in time for Thanksgiving), but you wouldn't know it down here in Denver. Weather forecasters here are so bored they've been hitting the thesaurus to look up synonyms for "mild." Since urban snow jibs just aren't happening yet, here's a roundup of what's new from our local skateboarding crews to tide you over.

Denver's fifth annual Bordo Bello custom skateboard auction was the city's largest ever, with more than 350 designer decks up for sale at RedLine gallery over the weekend. The art show drew fans of both the sport and the art behind, with pieces by both local and national artists. Keep reading for photos of some our favorites.

"There's something people just love about the skateboard as a free and expressive canvas," says American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Colorado president Elysia Sryiac, surveying more than 300 decks submitted for Saturday's 5th annual Bordo Bello art show and auction at Redline Gallery. "This will be our largest show to date, with contributions from an amazing amount of really great local talent as well as a lot of decks that came in nationally that look really great, and I never cease to be surprised and amazed at how unique and creative each and every artist's approach to the skateboard can be."

Look very closely here. That's it, a little to the right.
"Holy shit, that was so fuckin' radical!," proclaims Mike Paproski, a skateboarder with a POV camera who saw Ryan Vitale, one of his fellow competitors, collide with a deer during a practice run at this weekend's Buffalo Bill Downhill Bloodspill race on Lookout Mountain. (We posted the video this morning over at our news blog, the Latest Word, but keep reading for an interview with Paproski.) Deer crossing signs: Not just for cars.

Satellite Boardshop and Red Bull unveil video from Ride With Us Colorado Skatepark Tour

Boulder's Satellite Boardshop is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, and this summer also marked the shop's seventh annual Ride With Us Colorado Skatepark Tour, which started back in May at the new Arvada park (a Westword Best of Denver 2012 winner) and concluded in August at the new park in Wheat Ridge. Red Bull just released its edit from the trip, featuring Ryan Decenzo, Brandon Biebel and Pat Moore, and it's a doozy.
