Young filmmaker Blaine Davies's new trailer for the 2012 Crisis Skateboards team video nails the perfect mix of what everyone wants to see in a proper skate vid: It's a combination of equal parts mind-blowing, technical, holy-shit skateboard prowess and people wrecking themselves over and over again, as if you can't fully appreciate the one without the other. The forthcoming video features Crisis Skateboards owner Jeremy Frankovis as well as team riders for the skate shop at 6821 West 120th Avenue in Broomfield, including Connor Grosh, Carleigh Samson, Kevin Davenport, Chris Schwartz, Keenan Meyer and Justin Rice.

Stacy Peralta, a '70s-era skateboarding legend in his own right -- and co-founder of the Powell Peralta Bones Brigade skateboarding team that included Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Lance Mountain, Tommy Guerrero, Mike McGill and dozens of the top pro skaters of the '80s and '90s -- will be the featured guest at 12:30 p.m. today at St. Cajetan's, 1190 Ninth Street on the Auraria campus, as part of the University of Colorado Denver's College of Arts & Media speaker series.

Peralta, an alumni advisory boardmember of the Sundance Film Festival, is as well-known today for his documentary filmmaking as his own skateboarding days, and he'll be showing clips from his films, including Dogtown and Z-Boys (2001), Riding Giants (2004) and Crips and Bloods: Made in America (2008), as well as his brand-new documentary Bones Brigade: An Autobiography. Colorado skaters Windsor James, David Reyes close out Mystery Skateboards' video series

Colorado skaters, filmmakers, skateshops put their heads together for Malfunction

Woodward at Copper hosts $5 skateboarding clinic with skate legend Andy MacDonald

If you still have decent legs under you after hitting the slopes this weekend, stop by the Barn at Woodward at Copper on Sunday at 5 p.m. to get a session in with pro skateboarder Andy MacDonald. The Barn has a pretty sick wooden skate bowl in addition to all the foam pits, trampolines, and SnowFlex features in there for working on new snowboarding and skiing tricks, and MacDonald -- aka Andy Mac, an X Games competitor since 1995 who now has more medals than he can count on all his fingers and toes -- is one of the best guest coaches a skater on the come-up could hope for.
